David C. Nelson is an attorney who cares about and enjoys working with his clients.  Whether it is estate planning, estate administration, real estate or bankruptcy, all clients are treated to the same great service they deserve.  My practice today is focused on estate planning and administration.  Often this is writing a Will, Trust, or Power of Attorney, but the hard work begins when discussing how the estate plan should be drafted, what the client’s goals are and how best to help clients when picking potential trustees, personal representatives, power of attorneys and guardians.

Unraveling the puzzle that is often administrating an estate can be a daunting task.  I greatly enjoy the opportunity to work with survivors, heirs, families, and others who need to administrate an estate.  This work is never the same as every estate is unique and has its unique characteristics.  Whether it’s a small estate affidavit, a trust that needs to be administered or filing a probate estate, I am here for you every step of the way.

Because real estate is often the primary asset moved in most estate plans it is important to know that I have been working in the real estate area of practice since the beginning of my practice.  Today my real estate practice is usually working with clients who have a need for real estate work as part of my estate planning practice, but I still represent buyers and sellers in their real estate transactions as needed.

In 1992 I represented my first bankruptcy client as a student attorney at the Neal & Bea Smith Drake Legal Clinic located then in Jasper County, Iowa.  I have never forgotten just how powerful a tool bankruptcy is for debt relief and assisting those in financial trouble.  Today my practice limited to Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcies.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
